Junior Sailors enjoy the best the Long Island Sound has to offer, sailing! We are fortunate to be on Hempstead Harbour, an ideal place to learn to sail or hone your skills. The program is for children ages 8-17. All skill levels are welcome. We focus on fostering the love of sailing, a lifelong sport, in a safe environment.
Highlighted Activities:
We teach essential elements like boat handling, seamanship, and racing. Our Junior Sailors are taught to respect the sea and learn the values of teamwork. Sailing promotes cooperative learning, good sportsmanship, and invaluable friendships.
Our program has a diverse group of instructors, capable of tailoring the daily activities to the children’s skill level and experience. Some sailors will choose to sail for recreation, some will goon to race competitively. SCYC competes in regattas all over Long Island Sound. We are a member of the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound.
All Sea Cliff Yacht Club Instructors are certified by US Sailing, CPR and First-Aid certifed, and have a current NYS powerboat certification.
The program is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced. All children must meet minimum swimming requirements.
